Flash often being forgotten, we usually use it when the situation is dark or when we afraid to push the ISO higher. But, if we use the flash creatively, it will give some effect by filling the shadows softly and dramatically.
Some tricks you can try ...
- To use flash, expose ambient light then dial 1,5 to 2 stops flash exposure compensation to make something stay soft.
- For more dramatic picture, under expose with stop or two and dial positive flash exposure compensation to get a bright object with dark background.
- Make the effect softer, use a flash diffuser.
- Use a trigger or wireless transmitter to reduce hard shadows.
